About Lucia Evans

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Lucia left her homeland at the age of 19 to discover a new life in the West of Ireland. Once here, she found herself drawn to Galway with its vibrant arts culture and thus settled there.

Justin timberlakeFollowing her 'You're A Star' win, Lucia tentatively began writing her own songs. This led to her first release, 'The Other Man' which received critical acclaim. She also continued to perform at many prestigious events including The Rose Of Tralee Festival, the Special Olympics opening ceremony at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast (2006) and more recently on Sharon Shannon's latest album 'Collaborations' and as a backing singer for Justin Timberlake's progete, Esmee Denters.

In spite of her obvious vocal ability, Lucia felt she needed to hone her craft as a singer and thus began studying the world famous Speech Level Singing technique with various instructors both in Ireland and in the USA. Seeing the effect it had on her voice, she was encouraged to share what she was learning with others. She began attending numerous training courses again, both in Ireland and the USA and in 2008, became a Certified Speech Level Singing Instructor. In that same year, Lucia Evans' Vocal Studio opened its doors to its first clients in Galway City. Lucia is also currently teaching in Dublin City at Troubadour Rehearsal Studios.

Of her teaching Lucia says, 'Teaching for me has become a new passion and it is without a doubt the most rewarding job I've ever had! I feel privileged to be able to teach people of every age and vocal ability and watch them become not only more accomplished singers, but also more confident people.'
